2023 GMC Sierra 1500: An Engine for Everyone

The first bit of 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 customization we’ll dip into is the many, many engine offerings. Each of the available engines delivers their own specific power output and subsequently, each drastically alters the truck’s behavior.

There’s a single 4-cylinder motor available, a turbocharged unit making 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. There’s also just a single V6 in the lineup, a diesel powerplant making 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

You then have five V8 offerings to consider, two of which are diesel. The first diesel is a 6.6L making 350 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. A revised version of this same diesel generates 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque.

The remaining V8 offerings include:

• 6.2L V8 making 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque
• 5.3L V8 making 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque
• 6.6L V8 making 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque

Transmission offerings vary between motors and include a 6-speed, 8-speed, and 10-speed automatic. Your choice of 2-wheel drive (2WD), or 4-wheel drive (4WD) is also offered.

2023 GMC Sierra 1500: Trim Levels and Configurations

The luxurious GMC Sierra 1500 is meant to appeal to a wide variety of drivers. Accomplishing this goal requires a diverse trim list, something the 2023 Sierra 1500 certainly has.

There are eight trims in total. The Sierra Pro is the base unit, one which delivers sublime driving dynamics and favorable standard features. From there, it’s the SLE, Elevation, and SLT trims. The AT4 and AT4X are next in line, each one gussying up your Sierra 1500 for off-road explorations.

The Denali and Denali Ultimate round out the list, both of which are considered pinnacles of the luxury truck segment.

There are other considerations to be made as well. Cab sizes include the regular cab, double cab, and expansive crew cab. With the crew cab, you can easily shuttle your family or coworkers around the area. There are three bed sizes as well—the short box, standard box, and long box offerings.
