Design: Buick Encore GX vs Honda CR-V
On paper, the 2021 Buick Encore GX and the 2021 Honda CR-V have a lot in common when it comes to design. They’re relatively the same size with seating for up to five passengers and 60/40 split-folding rear seats to accommodate large loads of cargo.
The Buick adds a bit of class and convenience that the Honda can’t compete with. For starters, the Encore GX is fit to accommodate all lengths of cargo items with the standard flat-folding front passenger’s seat. The front seat of the CR-V can’t be folded to fit in longer items.
You’ll also get a sleeker exterior design with the Buick Encore with dominating 18-inch painted aluminum wheels and bold, wrap-around front fascia. Meanwhile, the CR-V has less to offer with a small front grille and bland 17-inch alloy wheels.
Buick vs Honda: Infotainment Technology
In today’s day and age, connectivity behind the wheel is essential. The Encore GX and the CR-V both rise to the occasion with available touchscreen infotainment systems.
The Buick stands out with a larger standard 8-inch touchscreen that outshines both screen options in the CR-V. While Encore GX drivers are enjoying all that this system can do, CR-V drivers will have the choice between a 5-inch LCD screen without touch capability or a slightly larger available 7-inch screen that requires a trim level upgrade.
Additionally, the Buick outdoes the Honda with standard wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®. Not only will you need cords to integrate your smartphone in the CR-V, but you’ll also have to upgrade from the base trim level to even access smartphone integration capabilities.
Performance Specs of the Encore vs CR-V
The Buick Encore GX and the Honda CR-V are most evenly matched when it comes to performance. Both models offer standard turbocharged engines and a secondary engine option. The Encore GX gives you an available 1.3L Turbo engine while the CR-V gives you the option of a hybrid version of its standard engine.
Working with the engines in both models are Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT) and available all-wheel drivetrains. The former works without traditional gears to maximize fuel economy while the latter gives you the confidence to take on all kinds of road conditions.
Which Compact SUV Comes Out on Top?
While the 2021 Honda CR-V brings a few good attributes to the table, it can’t compete the class, convenience, and capability of the 2021 Buick Encore GX. Get behind the wheel and see for yourself what the Encore GX can do for your Columbus, Grove City, or Dublin lifestyle.
