Interior Space of the Terrain vs Acadia
One key difference between these two GMC SUVs is their size. While the Terrain is ideal for drivers that usually only have a few passengers, the GMC Acadia is ready for carpool duty. That is because the Terrain has five seats while the Acadia can fit up to seven seats.
Both will let you fold down the rear seating so you can pack up even more gear and supplies inside your SUV. Since the Acadia has an extra row of seating, it will provide the most cargo volume with a maximum of 79 cubic feet.
You can still fit plenty within the Terrain, though, which has up to 63.3 cubic feet of cargo volume. As far as your space behind the wheel goes, they both have 40 inches of headroom and roughly 41 inches of legroom in their front rows.
Which SUV Performs Better?
The answer to that question depends on the exact type of performance you are looking for. If it is powerful performance you are after, then it’s the GMC Acadia that will satisfy. That is because this model offers three various engine options with the available 3.6L V6 producing 310 horsepower.
This gives the 2021 Acadia the ability to tow up to 4,000 pounds. Along with that, its Traction Select System keeps you in control no matter if you are driving over dirt trails, through the snow, or towing your trailer.
If it is more agile and efficient performance you want as you drive around in your SUV, then the 2021 Terrain matches what you are looking for. As its turbo engine swiftly takes you around the area, you’ll enjoy the fact that it also helps the GMC Terrain get 25 city/30 highway MPG. Its shorter wheelbase also helps make it easy to maneuver when cornering or making tight turns.
Standard Safety Features
Both models come equipped with many of the same driver-assistive technologies. Where they differ though is which features they each come standard with. The 2021 Terrain standard safety systems include Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning.
With the Acadia, all these systems are available on higher trim levels. However, it does come with some of its own standard assistive features, including Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Both of these systems, which are also available in the Terrain, will alert you of any cars that are approaching so you can safely change lanes or back out of your parking spot.
